How is window film installed?

Solar Control films are professionally applied by skilled, factory trained, full-time employees.  First your glass is cleaned using a solution of liquid soap and water, then films are applied to the inside of your existing windows or glass. The application is completed by removing excess water, then custom cutting the film to fit the window with a final toweling of the window to remove any remaining moisture.

How can I clean my tinted windows?

Thirty days after application you may wash your tinted windows using normal household cleaning solutions, including ammonia based products such as Windex or Glass Plus, with a soft cloth or paper towel.

Never use abrasive products that could scratch or damage the film.

How long should my window film last?

Solar Control only uses the best products on its customers windows. Just how long the film lasts depends upon the type of film applied, and how its cared for. All our residential products are covered with a lifetime warranty. Commercial warranties vary from two years to fifteen years depending upon the product. All products are back by a manufacturer's warranty. See a customer service representative for full details.

Will window film stop all fading?

Nothing stops all damage caused by exposure to light. Window films are designed to reduce the major causes of fading on finishes and materials (ultraviolet light, visible light, and heat), and will extend the life of your furnishings, wood floors, draperies, and finishes by as much as five times.

Keep in mind there are certain fabrics, woods, and finishes that are more sensitive to fading and may not have their life-span extended as much as other materials, but if they have a normal life-span of five years then they could be expected to last as long as twenty years with the proper film applied.

How do window films work?

Window films are designed to reduce the amount of heat coming through your windows by reflecting the Sun's heat back outside (not necessarily visible reflection). All films have a clear UV coating layer which blocks 99% of those harmful rays. There is also a layer that reduces glare, with darker films reducing more glare than lighter films.
